Creature.

I will now do another word study, this time on the word "Creature". I  was reading some of Genesis in the Bible, and I decided that this was a good word to study for what I was reading. ^_^

*(   mean my thoughts.

Webster's 1828 dic:

CREATURE, n.

1. That which is created; every being besides the Creator, or every thing not self-existent. The sun, moon and stars; the earth, animals, plants, light, darkness, air, water, &c., are the creatures of God.
2. In a restricted sense, an animal of any kind; a living being; a beast. In a more restricted sense, man. Thus we say, he was in trouble and no creature was present to aid him.
(This is mostly what it means in Genesis)
3. A human being, in contempt; as an idle creature; a poor creature; what a creature!
4. With words of endearment, it denotes a human being beloved; as a pretty creature; a sweet creature.
5. That which is produced, formed or imagined; as a creature of the imagination.
6. A person who owes his rise and fortune to another; one who is made to be what he is.
Great princes thus, when favorites they raise, to justify their grace, their creatures praise.
7. A dependent; a person who is subject to the will or influence of another.

Scriptures:

  • Mosiah 27:26

26 And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do this, they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.
  • Romans 8:19
  • 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

  • Romans 8:20-21

20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
*(Don't subject yourself to vanity, because someone else has had the same hope in vanity, but rather deliver up that corruption and come unto Christ to have freedom and Liberty.)
  • 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: *(I really liked this ones that talked about being thankful for every creature.)
  • Mark 16:15

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. *( We all are mere creatures compared to God, and so He wants us to preach to everyone, so they can become more like Him.)

    Quotes:

Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty." ~Albert Einstein
"Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to mankind." ~Albert Schweitzer
*(I love how both these are similar, on how they talk about embracing living creatures, and I think it means to say, that we should be thankful and appreciate all creatures, and explore, and not limit ourselves within our own mind, but take the time to act on God's will which is to study His creations and creatures.)
"If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning." ~C.S. Lewis

    My Personal Definition:
I actually love animals and I love to draw them too. I love to capture their innocence, their nobility, their dignity, or what ever the animal betrays to me. I know that God created them, and saw they were good, and so we can learn many life lessons from them. I also know we are creatures in our own way too. We are creatures striving to be more like God. (Or at least should be. ^_^ I know I still need to work on that!) But we are all made by Him, and we should keep on listening to what He has to say to us, wether it be through The Holy Ghost, the scriptures, Patterns in nature, or living creatures, and many other ways, so that we can become our best, for God wants the Best for us.

"Love is the Soul of Genius"

Okay I wanted to do a quick reflection on a quote I read from a really good book called "Music Talks With Children" The quote is "Love is the soul of genius."
Well when I thought about this for a little while, I thought of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
They are the ultimate Geniuses. And They love us like no other beings in this whole universe! So, love must be the soul of genius! Heavenly Father loved us so much, he made us, (And I'm guessing only a genius could do that) Therefore, genius comes from love. Well at least true genius anyway.
I think a true genius is someone who can make something, out of his pure hearted mind, into beauty. Someone who is so pure in thought, that all his actions and creations are good. Someone who is becoming more aquatinted with himself and studying his own thoughts and striving to have a purity of heart. And what  thoughts are in the heart and mind, try to become actions. So that is why it is so important to try to study and have good thoughts, because then out thoughts become out actions. And if we are thinking pure good wise thoughts, then we can have good pure wise actions and become Geniuses ourselves!

Light!

Welcome to my word blog! Just so you know, the reason this blog is called writing is exciting is because , #1 I couldn't really think of a different name, #2 Its true, writing is exciting, #3 It kind of rhymes(writing and exciting sort of just fit nice together).
But anyway, I will do a lot of word studies on this blog and maybe some other things, but today I am going to do a word study on LIGHT, because I think their can be many different meanings for that word.
Webster 1828 dictionary definition:
The original sense of light: To shine, to shoot, to clear, to break forth.
1. The ethereal agent or matter which makes objects perceptible to the sense of seeing, but the particles of which are separately invisible.
(* even a light has to work together to be what it supposed to be. We are told to be a light, so if we are all a particle of light that needs to shine, we should work together and support each other in our finding and fulfilling of what our mission is.)
It is now generally believed that light is a fluid, or real matter existing independent of other substances with properties peculiar to itself.
(* Light is all one fluid or real matter. each particle has the same purpose, and that is to give light. We can all be particles of light that have the same purpose, which is to follow God and give light through Him.)
Its velocity is astonishing, as it passes through a space of nearly twelve million miles a minuet.
(* When we are following God to be a light, we can be blessed and progress faster.)
Light, when decomposed, is found to consist of rays differently colored; as red orange yellow green blue indigo and violate.
(* We all have different personalities -or colors, but if were all working with our different talents, look at what we can become! A beautiful rainbow! I sometimes think of rainbows as a pathway to heaven. If were all working together for that purpose -to lead people to christ- we are making a pathway to heaven, in which were leading people to God, which is what I think it means to be a light.)
The sun is the principle source of light in our solar system ; but light is also emitted from bodies ignited, or in combustion, and is reflected from enlightened bodies, as the moon.
(* The sun is like God, and the moon is like the Holy ghost. The Holy Ghost reflects God, and shows us His purposes.)
Light is also emitted from certain putrefying substances. It is usually united with heat, but exists also independent of it.
(* The Holy Ghost is always with us -if we've been confirmed- but sometimes to strike us up again he gives us a prompting, or an experience like burning in the bosom. That is kind of light heat -burning in the bosom- helping make us shine forth, and be the light.)

2. The flood of luminous rays which flows from the sun, and constitutes day. (*The sun is like God, and we can be the rays which fulfill Gods purpose for His children)

3. Day; the dawn of day.

4. Life. (* Christ is the light and the life of the world.)

5. Any thing that gives light; as a lamp, a candle, taper, lighted tower, star, etc. (*We can be the tools in Gods hands to be the source of His light.)

7. Illumination of mind; instruction' knowledge.

8. Means of knowing. EX: By using such lights as we have, we may arrive at probability, if not at certainty.

9. open view.

10. Public view or notice.

11. Explanation ; illustration ; means of understanding.  EX:One part of scripture throws light on another. or, You just brought that to light for me!

12. Point of view; situation to be seen or viewed; a use of the word taken from painting. It is useful to exhibit a subject in a variety of lights. Let every thought be presented in a strong light. In whatever light we view this event, it must be considered an evil.

13. A window; a place that admits light to enter.1Kings 7

14. A pane of glass; as a window with twelve lights.

15. In Scripture, God, the source of knowledge.God is light. 1John

16. Christ. That was the true light, that lighteth every man that cometh into the world. John 1.

17. Joy; comfort; felicity. Light is sown for the righteous. Ps. 97

18. Saving knowledge. It is because there is no light in them. Is. 8.

19. Prosperity; happiness. Then shall thy light break forth as the morning. Is.58.

20. Support; comfort; deliverance. Mic. 7.

21. The gospel. Matt. 4.

22. The understanding or judgment. Matt. 6.

23. The gifts and graces of christians. Matt. 5.

24. A moral instructor, as John the Baptist. John 5.

25. A true christian, a person enlightened. Eph. 5.

26. A good king, the guide of his people. Sam. 21. The light of the countenance, favor; smiles. Ps. 4.

To stand in one's own light, to be the means of preventing good, or frustrating one's own purposes.
To come to light, to be detected; to be discovered or found.

LIGHT, a. lite.
1. Bright; clear; not dark or obscure; as, the morning is light; the apartment is light.
2. In colors, white or whitish; as a light color; a light brown; a light complexion.

  • Abraham 4:16

    16 And the Gods organized the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; with the lesser light they set the stars also;
  • Moses 2:16

16 And I, God, made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the greater light was the sun, and the lesser light was the moon; and the stars also were made even according to my word.
  • Doctrine and Covenants 50:24

24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
  • Alma 19:6

6 Now, this was what Ammon desired, for he knew that king Lamoni was under the power of God; he knew that the dark veil of unbelief was being cast away from his mind, and the light which did light up his mind, which was the light of the glory of God, which was a marvelous light of his goodness—yea, this light had infused such joy into his soul, the cloud of darkness having been dispelled, and that the light of everlasting life was lit up in his soul, yea, he knew that this had overcome his natural frame, and he was carried away in God—
